JEC FUND

The Japan World Exposition 1970 was a great success, with 77 countries participating and 64.22 million people attending. The theme of the Expo was Progress and Harmony for Mankind. With the loss of the natural environment concomitant with the development of science and technology, and reflecting on the record of history with discord between different societies, the Expo was held with the wish of harmonious progress for mankind in the future.
The Japan World Exposition 1970 Commemorative Fund (JEC FUND) manages part of the earnings of the exposition as a fund. It receives no subsidies from the national government. The earnings from the fund are used to provide financial assistance for different activities, including cultural, scholarly, and intellectual efforts in Japan and abroad. From 1971 to the present it has provided 18,639 million yen to 4,224 projects.
JEC FUND will continue to contribute in the future to society with the wish to achieve the harmonious progress of mankind and build a richer living environment.
